Side Talk: Anime Recommendations 2013/2014

I first watch anime when I was in secondary school. I remembered my 'first ever' anime was Naruto and Bleach. I did watch One Piece and Gundam when I was in primary school but I don't consider as my first ever anime since I watched them because it was shown on a local broadcast TV... in order words I watched without knowing they originate from Japan. Now I am 22 years old and I still watch anime, most people are shocked when they find out I watch animes.

What are my requirement when deciding if I should watch an anime or not? I look at their animation or should I say drawing, if they are to my liking. I like certain style of anime, and the characters have to look handsome haha. I might still watch the anime if the characters do not look the way I like, provided they have really good story lines HAHA!

As stated in the title, I would like to recommend anime that I have watched or still watching this year. They are not in any specific order.

1. Soul Eater Not

Genre: Comedy, Slice of life, Supernatural
In term's of its animation/drawing, it is really not the style I will like. I have low expectation on this one, but it turn out really good. Don't worry if you have not watched the main series of Soul Eater, I did not watch it too but I was able to understand the story fully.

The first half of the story is more about how these three students are adapting in their Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA). There will be a turning point in the story which explains the occurrence in the first half.

2. Witch Craft works

Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
I love stories with female warriors... because I support the empowerment of women haha. Some of the witches powers are really cute and there is also mix of comedy.

3. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (still airing)

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Science fiction, Supernatural, Military
This is not your typical anime on Magic Academy. The 'magic' featured in this anime has its scientific explanation. It has a strong plot. I like how the magic is being animate in this looks so electronic. I also like how the characters are being drawn. It can be a little difficult to follow if you didn't read the manga like me due to all the technical terms they use in the anime. But fear not, there is introduction videos for you to familiarize with the anime. Also if you clarify your understanding, you could always go to their official english website. I will give more details on it when I finish watching it.

4. La Corda d'Oro Blue Sky

Genre: Music, School, Shoujo
The story is pretty predictable just like other La Corda d'Oro series. I'll say the past series are better. I watch this for the classical music. If you wanna see Ikemen playing musical instrument, then watch this!

5. Inari KonKon Koi Iroha (released in 2013)

Genre: Romantic, Comedy, Supernatural
Not much to say about this, it is pretty easy to follow. There will be an unexpected love line in this one. The small comedy parts are quite enjoyable.

6. Hataraku Maou-sama! (released in 2013)

Genre: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
This is one of favorite few anime. The anime title translates to the 'The devil is a part-timer'. It about how a devil and its arch enemy, were teleported to earth and how to try adapt to human daily life. It is a must watch.

A visit to Benefit Brow Bar

Benefit Brow Bar is where we go to get our brow fix. This is my second visit to Benefit Brow Bar and we are quite satisfied with results. Instead of the traditional plucking of the brows, Benefit Brow Bar offers Brow waxing instead. It uses hot waxes to remove and shape brows.

This is the area where we did our brow waxing. The white container like thinggy, is where hot wax are kept warm. And do not worry leaving the bar sticky with excess wax on your brows, because the person will remove them and there will be no trace of the wax.

You can either choose to have them clean your brows (retaining the same shape) or have them shaped according to your natural shape. I choose the latter this time.  Below is the before condition of my brows…haha it was really a mess. the second picture is the after. It cost about 22 sgd for brow waxing. They do offer other service like upper lip and chin waxing too!

Review: SK-II Facial Treatment Repair C

This will be my first SK-II product review. Since I am still a student, SK-II products are way above my budget. So it will be rare for me to review SK-II. I've tried their treatment essence and I find it great, but too expensive for me continue using.

Today I will review SK-II Facial Treatment Repair C. I suppose this product is targeted more towards the middle-aged and older because it aims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and roughness to refine skin texture and elasticity. Basically, nutrient rich serum that contains mainly Pitera (like most of SK-II products) and Hydraulic Acid. According to SK-II website, Pitera is a clear liquid rich in vitamins, amino acids, minerals and organic acids.

The product

15 ml

Add small a drop of SK-II Facial Treatment Repair C

Spread evenly

What is great about this product is that it fragrance free. It also does give any irritation. It also helps to moisturise the skin without making it over moisturising. In terms on texture, it is gel-type invisible serum. Being invisible means you can wear it out without it being obvious. Although the price is on the steep side, I realise that a drop of the treatment serum has a  lot coverage. As seen above, that small drop is more than enough to cover the whole hand. In terms of effectiveness of reducing fine lines, you can see the before and after picture above.

Review: Nature Republic Aqua Collagen Solution Eye Treatment Mask

This post is going to be relatively picture heavy as compared to my past post. Today, I am going to review Nature Republic Aqua Collagen Solution Eye Treatment Mask. I bought this from Korean in a pack of 20. This definitely cannot be found in Singapore because Nature Republic has retreated from Singapore few years ago (bummer). Nevertheless, if you are really keen in trying it out, maybe you could try and find it on qoo10 or Nature Republic outlet in Johor Bahru.

First look
So this is how the packaging of the Eye Treatment Mask looks like. At the first look, I was wondering why does the eye mask packet looks that big. Usually eye mask are usually small with separated pieces (half moon shaped), to be placed under your eyes. However, this is different. The next few pictures will tell why is the packet that big.

The back
For those, who wants to know the ingredients…

This the instructions at the back. You are supposed to put on the mask for 20 - 30 minutes…which is longer than the typical face mask.

This is how the mask look like when I took it out from the packet
The packet is bigger because it is google-type eye patch. Unlike typical mask, this is made from hydrogel. The packet does not contain lots of liquid like typical eye mask. There is some droplets though.

Taking out from the casing…remove the the white plastic layer to use
After use
As a undergraduate, there are times I need to stay up late in order to finish up my assignment. Staying up late for consecutive nights does take a tool in my eye. There was once that my eyes were felt so tired  and felt a little dry. It looks a little sunken below the eye because of the tiredness. I tried using Nature republic Aqua Collagen Solution Eye Treatment Mask (I am going to refer it as eye mask since the name is quite mouthful) one of the nights. I usually cool it in the fridge before using it. The mask has cooling sensation and I can feel the moisture on it, however it is not dripping with liquid. After putting it on, I realised that my eyes are left tired and my eyes was slightly less sunken. As for whitening wise, I do not really see any significant difference because I do not get panda eyes like most people. Maybe more significant whitening effect can be observe after multiple use. I also like how the design in google-like, because I feel it gives a more comprehensive effect. It covers all around my eyes, which is great. Even after 30 minutes, the google still contains lots of moisture.

I feel the most significant difference is it helps to alleviate tiredness of the eyes. I also tried the the eye mask on my dad, and siblings also agreed with than his eyes looks less sunken!

I would rate this eye mask 4/5 stars!

P.S. Do comments on the post it you have anything to ask…so that I will be less lonely haha.
And I placed a poll widget at the side bar in order to find out what are the products that my readers wants me to review.
