Review: Missha Red Ginseng Sheet Mask

Remember in the previous I mentioned that I will be reviewing the skincare products I received in my Althea package. Well, here is the first one.

I will be reviewing Missha Red Ginseng Sheet Masm today. This is my first time seeing red ginseng being used as one of the ingredients in a skin products. I do know that people consume red ginseng for stamina, but I have never heard of red ginsnsg being applied on skin. I guess the koreans like their ginseng so much that they put it in almost everthing. On a serious note, I actually googled on the benefits of red ginseng on the skin. And I found out that it has a anti-aging properties and helps to rejuvenate the skin. Just what I need after a long day of work!

The facial mask's packaging with dried red ginseng on it

Haha the packaging reminds me of those extract that koreans like to consume for health reasons.

Upcoming Review: Skincare products from Althea

Look what arrived at my doorstep today! My althea orders!

I needed a new face wash and an eye cream. I choose laneige as the brand of choice since it is the most reliable brand for my skin. So I bought Laneige Multi-cleanser and Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel. Bought it on 11 November because of the additional 11% off because of the singles day :). The item arrived on the 18 November, so it took approximately 7 days to arrive. The order includes a tracking number but the tracking stops once it reaches the distribution centre in singapore (singpost).

Anyway my items were nicely bubble wrap. Here is a picture of the parcel when it arrive. Althea was also generous enough to include samples in the parcel. One of it is a facial mask from Missha and another is skin repair essence.

Side talk: Not your regular kpop songs

When we talk about kpop, we often relate it to Girls Generation (SNSD), Super Junior (Suju), Big Bang, 2NE1, AOA, EXO and many more.

I have been into kpop for 10 years already and I have listened to various genre of music in the kpop industry. I believe some songs deserve more recognition. For this post I hope to be able to share or introduce fantastic songs that could spice up your playlist.

Lets start with one of my favourite album of all time:

Blue Brand is a hip-hop album project that compiled various hip-hop songs from by hip hop legends. Verbal Jint, Dynamic Duo, Supreme Team, Dok2, K.Will, and many more. The song lineup is simply fantastic. There are two volume to this album. The first volume was released in 2009 while volume two release in 2010. Below are some great songs you can find in the two volumes!

Kim Jin Pyo (feat Jan Di) - How to be cool when you breakup

Supreme Team (feat Soulman) - You're to blam

Supreme Team (feat Soulman) - Because of you

Supreme Team is a hip hop duo name Simon D. and E-Sans. Unfortunately, the group disbanded recently as E-Sans terminated his contract with Amoeba Culture. Also, E-sans is involved with a marijuana scandal. I really like their songs and they are pretty nice to listen to despite the long rapping.

Here is another of my favourite song from one of Supreme Team album.

Supreme Team (feat Young Jun) - Then Then Then

Another artist you should check out it TETE (테테). His music is very relaxing and definitely worth listening during the nights and ranning days. I really like Floral ran by TETE especially the remix version. The remix version is an eargasm. Do change

테테 (TETE) - Floral Rain

Tete (테테) - Floral Rain (Acid Punk Dynamite Remix)

Lastly, I would like to introduce all of you to Standing Egg. Its a well known k-indie group but some of you may not be familiar with them. Nonetheless, do check out Farewell For You, Not Yet For Me by Standing Egg.

Standing Egg - Farewell For You, Not Yet For Me

Thats the end of this week side talk. What do all think of the songs I have recommended? Do leave your comments!

Side-talk: The Ramen Stall at 787 North Bridge Road

Recently I heard raves about this newly halal food establisment that sells Japanese. I see pictures of their food on various social networking platform like facebook and instagram (especially instagram). Although Singapore has sizable a muslim population, it is not easy to get halal japanese food here; especially good ones. This is because japanese usually uses mirin and pork broth in their cookings. The newly halal restaurant that I am referring to is call The Ramen Stall, located at 787 North Bridge Road. When I heard that still stall sells halal ramen, I was really excited because I am avid viewer of Japanese Hour on Channelnewsasia and often see people eating ramens. I have never tasted japanese ramen simply because it is difficult to get halal ones. I even considered going to Tokyo to get taste of halal ramen there.

So yesterday I decided to give it a try after work. The place is located all the same street as Zam Zam. I was expecting a crowd since it is newly halal certified and I was right about 7.30pm and there was already a long queue. My friend and I then comtemplated whether we should go to Afterwit which was located nearby and serves Mexican food. Alas, we decided to queue up. Fortunately, we got a seat after 10 minutes becauses there was only two of us. Those who came in big groups in front of us has to wait longer.

Review: Etude House Baking Powder B.B Deep Cleansing Foam

Today I am writing a review on facewash/cleanser that I have been using since a year ago. I like it so far and already bought my third tube.

My current daily routine for my face before going out consist of moisturizer, concealer and lastly BB cream. As such, after school I need to ensure that I remove by BB cream and concealer well before going to sleep. If not I would have acne and clogging problem.

As someone who is lazy like me I like to keep things simple. Some people have a separate makeup remover before cleansing their face. Importantly, if your using a makeup remove you need to ensure that it is compatible with your skin. For this very reasons, I decided to purchase Etude House Baking Powder B.B Deep Cleansing Foam.

What I like about this cleansing foam is that its like a 2 in 1 cleansing scrub and makeup remover. Not only that it effectively removes my BB cream, i have also tried removing eyebrow liner and mascara using it. It works very well.

It is not extremely drying as I would need to apply moisturizer after washing up. But in overall I like it alot. I have no breakups or whiteheads problem after using this facewash.

Fresh from korea & my third tube
(FYI: I usually order my products online from korean since it is so much cheaper than buying their outlets in Singapore)

Looks out for any ingredients that you are sensitive to
According to the tube, it says that the cleanser is 100% natural fragrance and dye free. Just to inform you guys, the cleanser is actually slightly lemony and it is white in color (as seen in the picture below). It also have microbeads that is not quite visible from the picture but if you were to massage it on you face, you will be able to feel it.

This is my current favorite facewash/cleanser and I would purchase it again in the future.

My rating 5/5.

Lastly, everyone in Southeast Asian region remember to drink more water and put on more moisturizer! Its haze season again!

Toodles!~

Review: The Face Shop Blackhead Out Dual Nose Strip

It is the time of the year again, where I get really obsessed with the blackheads of my nose. Usually happens when I am too free. Before anyone reads this post, I would to warn that there are disgusting photos of my blackheads embedded nose below. So if you don't like to see it, I suggest you don't read post haha.

I am really curious by how people keep their nose blackheads-free. Mine doesn't seem to come off no matter how much exfoliating I do. I decided to try The Face Shop Blackhead Out Dual Nose Strip since the typical blackhead strip is not very effective for me.

Travel: Our accommodation in Phuket (Thailand), BYD Lofts Boutique Hotel & Serviced Apartments

This is probably my first post related to my overseas vacation. So this will placed under the travel series. This year in June, my family and I decided to go for a 6 days 5 night trip to Phuket. Initially, I said that I did not want to go but since I am not going for any graduation trip , I decided to tag along at the last minute. Plane ticket was a little more pricey because I did not but early. We took Silkair and my ticket cost about S$400++ about a hundred more than what my other family members paid for. That was my first time in Phuket but not my first time in Thailand. I went to Bangkok few years before this trip. And I really enjoyed the trip.

We stayed at BYD Lofts Boutique Hotel & Serviced Apartments.

Review: Faceshop Color My Eye Brow

I have thick eye brows and it gets messy at times which can be quite annoying. Thick eye brows that are messy look like caterpillar!

So, I went around to get a hand on brow gel. Conclusion from my hunt was rather disappointing as I realized that it is difficult to get brow gel in Singapore.

But I manage to get something similar to brow gel and it is called Color My Eye Brow. Yes! I got it from Faceshop. Its pretty affordable but I can quite remember how much is it but i believe that it is below SGD 10.

I did a mini research and found out that it comes in different color. Unfortunately when I went to faceshop there was only one type and I though that it comes with one color so I just bought it.

Side-Talk: Butterscotch Cafe

Today I am going to blog about my dining experience at Butterscotch Cafe. I have seen photos of dishes from this cafe. The food looks visually appetizing. But it is a little out of the way. When I heard my friend's office is near this cafe, we decided to have our long overdue meet up here. It is located at Bukit Merah area. It is about 10 mins walk from Redhill MRT station. Fortunately, my friend and I did not get lost even when it is out first time and it was at night. When we reached there, both us agreed that it was an unexpected place to find a cafe. The place was much more 'ulu' than I expected haha.

Review: Laneige Water Drop Tinted Lip Balm

Guess what arrived at my doorstep today

It came safely and nicely packed with lots of bubble wraps in the evening.

That's right! I bought the newly released Laneige Water Drop Tinted Lip Balm. Compared the prices on Qoo10 and on retail. It is going for S$33. I think I paid about S$25 on Qoo10. But the downside of buying online is that you can't try it before buying.

Realised that the box is slightly dented but all is good because the tinted lip balm inside was not damaged.

Side-Talk: Rilek 1 Korner at Punggol Settlement

I have been lots of side talk on eateries haven't I? Here is another one.

My friend and I decided to go for cycling one. Our starting point was opposite Compass Point and our goal was the Punggol Settlement. We went through the cycling path that passes by the Punggol Waterway and Waterway Woodcress. It was a long route but the scenery was great. Luckily the weather was relatively cloudy.

Once we reached Punggol Settlement, we looked for a place to park of bikes but to no avail. I find it puzzling for such a park to not have anywhere to park the bike. We decide to bring up our bike to the second floor of Punggol Settlement where Rilek 1 Korner is located…it was pretty embarrassing haha.

Side-Talk: Papparich Singapore

Hello! Another side-talk post today haha. Visited Papparich at Star Vista with my sister about a month ago. I remembered that my sister submitted her thesis on that day and I was in school…studying alone. Usually I would be quite productive in school…but during my final year, school did not feel as conducive as before :/. Anyway back to the topic of Papparich, decided to go there for very early dinner because the drinks in the menu look so good.

I met my sister at Star Vista itself and then we settled at Papparich. Papparich location at Star Vista is quite obscure.  Had to walk around for quite some time until we found it. Papparich has really nice interior, unfortunately the air-con was not working on that day. Its interior has this vintage coffee shop feel to it. Papparich also kinda remind me of Old Town White Coffee, which also originates from Malaysia, except that Papparich has better food that Old Town White Coffee in my opinion.

Review: Shiseido Speedy Whip Foam Cleanser

Speedy Whip Foam Cleanser is also one of the products that my eldest sister got for from Japan last December. This item can also be found in Singapore, I remembered the price being quite affordable that expected. I thought Shiseido products are pretty pricey in Singapore.

Side-Talk: FIX Cafe at Ah Hood Road

Met up with my friends few weeks ago to take time off from studying. I suggested that we have dinner at FIX cafe. Have been eyeing this place ever since it got its halal certification. Their desserts look so photogenic on photos. However its location is a little out of the way from where we usually hangout. Suggested this place because the others do not have any better suggested, so we went….

We took a bus there and it took us almost an hour to reach but it was worth it. Got seated near the pool. It was not very crowded and the lighting of the cafe was good for photo taking. You have to the counter to order. I went to the counter to order but forget what my friends wanted to buy as soon as I was about to order haha. I bet the cashier thought I was weird. Went back to our table and asked my friends to come with to order haha. They also commented why I went to cashier without bringing my wallet -.- Scumbag brain.

Okay back to the food we ordered. We had Chicken Tikka Naanwich, Turkey Ham and Cheese Naanwich, Fish & Chips, Soy-glazed Chicken Drumlets and Strawberry Pistachio Rose Tart. For drinks we had ice-lemon tea, Iced Mocha and Iced Chocolate. The price came about $51 dollar, if I remembered correctly. And that is very reasonable.

Didn't manage to take lot of the photos of the food because we were all very hungry and could not wait to dig in. Here is my take on each of the item we had.

Side-Talk: Halal Omiyage (Souvenir) from Japan

As mentioned in my previous post, my eldest sister went to Japan in December 2014 and brought back lots of Japan face products. While she was there, she whatsapp us to help to her search online for halal mochi which she can bring as souvenirs for her muslim colleague. I look up on google and do not find any halal kochi that is already in Japanese market. However, I did find out that there are halal omiyage out there are halal certified by Nippon Asia Halal Association (NAHA). Interesting huh. Below is the halal logo of NAHA.

One of the product is "Arare", which is a type of rice crackers. It is product by Osama Rice Cracker Co. Pte Ltd. Do note that not all of their products are halal. So what is "Arare"? According to wikipedia, it is japanese confectionary made from glutinous rice. The difference from senbei is its size and shape. In other words it is fried mochi.

It is time for a new product review again. Before I do that, I would like to wish all my readers HAPPY 2015! May 2015 be a great year for all of you.

My eldest sister brought home lots of Japan Skin products after her trip to Japan in December 2014. Some of the products are from popular brands in Singapore while some are brands that I have not heard before. On a side note, I simply love how the Japanese package their products, it makes me really excited to try out the products. One of the products that I would like shared with the product is DET Clear Bright & Peel Peeling Jelly with Mixed Berry Fragrance.
